Be careful with my heart

Be careful with my heart, I said

It’s vulnerable to touch

Be gentle with your words

So, I won’t fall apart

I might’ve survived my past

Standing here today

But like a torn paper

Put together with tape

Don’t think I will embrace your hate

Be careful with my heart, I plead

For I’ve been fed lies

I’ve spent years of my youths

Vomiting myths

I’ve worshipped as gospel

Be careful with my heart, I begged

Requesting kindness and candour

But you call me selfish

Love prescribed sacrifice, you said

So I believed

Like a fool, my heart I offered on a silver platter

And you stabbed it with your words

And trampled it with your ignorance

So I picked it up

And left

Putting it back together

For another you to destroy it again.
